In Belgrade, during World War II, Marco hides his naive nd ompetuous friend Blacky from the Nazis in a Cellar where a group of aprtisans lives untherground, manufcturing weapons which Marko sells on the black market. For him it is a lucrative business and a of separating Blacky from the girl they both love, the actress Natalija. For 2à years Marko tells the people below that the was is still going on. He manipulates them and feeds them false information. During a subterranean wedding, some of the deluded partisans come up for air, yet believe the nazis are indeed still in power when they stumble on the set of a film dealing with the German occupation.
