Ticket to the Taj Mahal

1946. A Village in Lithuania. The Stalinists move in when the German occupation farces are driven out. Fabiyonas tries to flee the sombre reality to his dreamland India. His neighbour Zigmas is forced by the Soviets to complete his national service. Bul Fabiyonas is protected by a Russian examining magistrate, the mother of his child, so that they can get married and bring up the child together. A moving film full of archaic images, produced by the 40-year-old Lithuanian film-rnaker Algimantas Puipa.
