This Is my Father

How many of us wander through life pondering who we are and where we come from? For middle-aged high-school teacher Kieran Johnson, the question begins haunting him when he discovers old photos of his mother’s native Ireland. Johnson is a troubled man, fatigued by his teaching profession, childless, a widower caring for an elderly mother who has suffered a stroke and cannot talk. When Johnson assigns his students an essay about their roots, and realises he knows very little about the identity of his own father, he takes his nephew Jack on a trip to the Emerald Isle for the adventure of a lifetime.
