135' - 1990 - Crime, Drama - Dialogue: English
Director: Christine Edzard Composer: Michel Sanvoisin With: Derek Jacobi, Cyril Cusack, Ruth Mitchell
Set in London in 1857, The Fool is the story of an obscure little clerk who crossed, from one world to the other by leading a double life - underlying on one in the side as theatre, a knocked made a fool of by everyone, at home amongst the bartering and haggling in the second hand shops where he has been brought up - and on the ether side as a shrewd man of the world, a bold speculator, manipulating the foolishness, gullibility and greed of those around him. The contrast between the two worlds inevitably comes to a contradiction which has to be resolved.
