The Circus is one of the Little Tramp’s most poignant roles, as well as one of Chaplin’s funniest silent movies – for which he won a special Academy Award. It begins with the Tramp attending a small circus and haphazardly bumping into a pickpocket, who hides his ill-gotten goods in the Tramp’s pocket. After a chase through the hall of mirrors, the Tramp accidentally runs into the circus’ centre ring, where he is unintentionally hilarious. In collaboration with Warner Home Video and in a co-production with the Flanders International Film Festival – Ghent, Focus Knack presents The Circus on large screen and with a live performance by Prima la Musica, conducted by Dirk Brossé. The concert takes place in Capitole Ghent on 4 October.
