Outside the Baltimore airport, Sam Bicke conceals a gun under an orthopedic leg brace and goes to board his plane. It is 1974 and the U.S.A. is going trough one of the worst moments in its political history: the Watergate scandal – which eventually forced president Richard Nixon out of office – and the Vietnam War.
Niels Mueller: “It started as a purely fictitious scrip called “The Assassination of LBJ” about a man who feels ignored by society and whose assassination attempt of Lyndon Baines Johnson isn’t noticed or isn’t understood as an assassination attempt. Through research we realized this wasn’t all fiction, we were just off by one president. So we moved the story from 1964 to 1974 and changed the title”.
