Haruki Kadokawa

Ten to chi to (Heaven and Earth)

Edition 1991
119' - 1990 - Action, Drama, Adventure - Dialogue: English, Japanese
Director: Haruki Kadokawa Composer: Tetsuya Komuro With: Takaaki Enoki, Masahiko Tsugawa, Atsuko Asano
In the 16th century, when rival warlords fought battles all over the country, the young Shinto nobleman Kategora finds himself opposed to the ruthless Takeda for control of a united Japan. Plotting and characterization are pared to the bone in this film. As much running time as possible is given over the lavishly staged battle scenes shot on location in Alberta, Canada, where the required number of horses and vast, unspoiled landscapes were available. (Variety 10.09.90)
