Public Places

Edition 1988
17' - 1980 - Documentary, Short - Dialogue: English
Director: Howard Silver
This film examines the 'dearchitecture' of SITE, an innovative, New York based architectural firm, by documenting seven SITE projects - structures that appear to tilt, crumble and grow. These surprising edifices, located in the otherwise monotonous commercial shopping centres throughout the US, challenge one 's expectations of how buildings should look like and behave. The controversy surrounding each of these unconventional structures is apparent as local citizens express their opinions about the work.
