Based on Maurice Renard’s famous short story, the film tells the story of Paul Orlac, a successful concert pianist. Following a tragic railroad accident in which his hands get crushed, a brilliant surgeon manages to graft on new hands. These hands have been taken from Vasseur, a knife throwing murderer, who has just been executed. Paul believes that this evil personality is slowly taking over his mind. When Paul’s father is found killed with a dagger on which his fingerprints are found, he is the first suspect …
Composer Henning Lohner wrote a new score for the film, which will be performed live in the Ghent Opera House by the National Belgian Orchestra conducted by Dirk Brossé.
