Mod lyset (Towards the Light)

Asta Nielsen plays an alluring and coquettish society lady who marries for love, only to be instantly and tragically disappointed. She subsequently becomes infatuated with a saintly evangelist. She tries to tempt him, but he resists her, and she ends up converting and becoming a white-gowned evangelist herself. A film of many striking effects, particularly in its use of symbolic inserts, which are fascinating to see. It is highly entertaining, with a spectacular fire that ravages the evangelist’s island colony.
