Chile, 1973. Social unrest, social reform and a socialist president.
Here we meet 11 year-old Gonzalo and Pedro in their hometown of Santiago. Gonzalo comes from a prosperous suburb, whilst Pedro lives in a poverty-stricken, makeshift shantytown. At school they cross both visible and invisible social barriers, thanks to the priest and headmaster Father McEnroe, whose mission is to integrate poor and rich pupils in an otherwise elitist boarding school. A surprising friendship full of equally surprising events develops between Gonzalo and Pedro.
For many Chileans 1973 was the year when the short-lived hope of social justice was shattered by a military coup.
