July 19th, 1936. The revolution has just started in a small town near Barcelona. Maria, a young innocent nun escaping from her convent, which is being ransacked by revolutionaries, finds
refuge in a whorehouse. In the whorehouse some militia women - Libertarias - from the Free
Women Organisation burst in with the mission of freeing the prostitutes. Befriended by the
group, Maria will participate in the armed fight. They are on their way to the front where they
would rather die standing like men, than live on their knees like servants...
