Clockmaker Michel Descombes lives a peaceful life in a Lyon neighbourhood. Coming home one night, he finds the police searching his house and discovers that his son has been accused of murdering the security guard of a factory related to extreme right-wing activities. The officer in charge of the investigation hopes to enlist Descombes’ help, but the latter has only one interest: to find out what could have driven his son to act the way he did.
