León, who suffers of Down's syndrome, has made a nuisance of himself in every institution that has taken him on. He locks himself in his room, doggedly refuses to respond to any kind of treatment and asks for only one thing: to go back to his sister Olvido. It is not exactly what Olvido has in mind. Since both their parents died, leaving her a flat and a car, she has barely been able to make ends meet with her meagre pay. Torn between fraternal duty, financial straits, romantic disappointment and the strong urge to get away from it all, she is tempted to rid herself of the petulant León. He, on the other hand, is completely oblivious of Olvido's problems, which leads to frequent confrontations between them that are a source of irritation for both. Only when he realises that his resistance to becoming independent is counter-productive, does he finally give in and show he is quite capable of taking care of himself. The film won the best director and best actress awards in Karlovy Vary this year.
