Through a series of illegal adoption deals, Lazar - an orphan from Mozambique - ends up at the house of a Polish couple living in England. The artistic husband and his alcoholic wife had
"ordered" a Latin American child to solve the latent tensions in their family. And Lazar, who is
African, does anything but fit into their scheme. He is difficult to handle and reacts aggressive
ly. Only the old father of the house, a quiet and resigned Polish soul, seems to get through to
the boy's character. The child, after all, is no longer a child: behind the innocent faƔade lurk
atrocious remembrances of a cruel war...
