1904. Montréal's small ltalian community is shattered by tragedy. Tailor Giuseppe Moschella is unjustly accused of the accidental murder of a French-Canadian shopkeeper, the so11-in-law of his best customer and friend, Alphonse Lamoureux. With the help of other ltalians, Giuseppe's wife Ninetta does her utmost to clear his name. Discouraged, Giuseppe wants to send her back to Sicily, but she resists. She wants to stay in the same country as he is. When late strikes again, Ninetta decides, despite her grief, to stay in Quebec - her homeland from now on
