La Esterella - Immer schijnen

Decades ago, La Esterella was on her way of becoming an international star. She sang in major theatres in London, Bratislava, Prague, Paris, … Contracts for America and Australia were waiting for her. Now, La Esterella is 82, and she is still singing as a woman inspired and impassioned. With songs such as ‘Zonneschijn voor iedereen’ (Sunshine for everyone) she is one of the pioneers of the Dutch-language song in Flanders; often a sugary world of red roses and sweet kisses. In 1941, she is a poor seamstress who takes every opportunity coming her way; in 2001, La Esterella is a woman stubbornly persevering in the role of Diva who has decided that “Forever shining” is her destiny!
