A winsome entertainment for the whole family, 'Kunst- & Vliegwerk' is the latest by Karst van der Meulen, a kidpic specialist who's turned out eight features in the past 16 years. The story is simple and linear with well-spaced attention-grabbers for smaller children, and a gimmick - a homemade mini-rocket. There's also a hungry escaped tiger, a stuntman with amnesia, a gun, a lot of loot, a wimpish artist father, a sensitive mother, Dutch soldiers, policemen and a happy ending which is some time in coming. Child players, all amateurs, have fun, which can be fun to watch. The grown-ups, all professional actors, occasionally have difficulty balancing the tomfoolery and acting. (Variety, 14.6.1989)
