Katrina September and her son Paul look and live as white people but they are coloureds. Paul, who studied medicine in Great-Britain, returns to South Africa with his white girlfriend Alida. He has been offered a job as a doctor at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town and does not know that he is coloured. Then, a new pastor arrives and falls in love with Katrina. Katrina's brother, Adam, warns both Katrina and Alec against getting married. He invites Alec to visit the village where Katrina was born. Paul gradually discovers who he really is and he breaks up with Alida to go and live among his "own" people … But this ends dramatically …
"Katrina" is the first local film that deals with racism - an impressive film about the insanity of the apartheid policy.
