SriVidya and her three daughters belong to an extremely rich and moneyed family. They live in an aristocratic home, ringing with laughter, tinkling anklets and the smell of fresh jasmine. The only male in the family is an invalid grandfather. The girls are bright, beautiful, talented and as different as chalk and cheese. The men who walk into their lives are enigmatic, flamboyant or burdened by their past. Tabu meets Ajith who is like quicksilver - volatile, idealistic and determined. Aishwarya falls in love with Abbas, a successful business tycoon, who is a romantic who spouts Bharatiyar and Kannasdasan's poems. And there is Mammooty, a commando, who as a major, had lost a leg in the war. His constant companion is an uncle whose humour is batty but who is a phenomenal character. In a cruel interplay of destiny and betrayal SriVidya and her family are dispossessed of their inheritance. They come to the city of Chennai, fight for survival, and try to rebuild their lives.
