Island (The Island)

"All my films are about loneliness and alienation in our modern society," says Paul Cox in an interview about his latest film Cactus. It is the perfect characterisation of the shorter films in this programme: Time Past is about man's burden of the past, The Journey treats the same subject. Island is, in Cox's own words, the turning-point in his filmcareer. We're all alone my dear is a moving documentary about an old woman in a home for elderly people. The Kingdom of Neck Chand is his most recent short film.
