With André Cauvin and Henri Storck, Charles Dekeukeleire pioneered documentary filmmaking in Belgium. But the latter was also an experimentalist, occupying a prominent place in European avant-garde of the twenties. His "Histoire de Détective" (Detective Story) is an experimental ficitonal tale with remarkable surrealist echoes about a woman who has her husband surveyed by a man with a camera.
