This is the moving story of Jacqueline du Pré - the most famous female cellist of the century -and her sister Hilary, torn apart by genius. In their childhood they were inseparable. They shared a life of music, in all its joy and intensity. At first Hilary was the exceptional musician and Jackie struggled to keep up with her. Then, ate the age of nine, Jackie won her section of a music competition with an overwhelming standing ovation. The tables were turned. Jackie became the centre of attention. Hilary was overshadowed by her closets ally and over the years her talents declined, as if silenced by her sister’s genius.
