The story opens in Fort Griffin, Texas, as lawman Wyatt Earp saves his friend Doe Holliday from a lynching. The scene then moves to Dodge City, where Holliday is not welcomed by the citizens. Only Earp's intervention prevents him from being driven from town, although his stock increases rapidly when he helps Earp quell and capture 3 gunmen. Then Earp receives a letter from his brother Virgil, who is the marshall of Tombstone, asking him for help in handling the Clanton Gang. After much shooting, justice prevails.
