Norman Taurog, Busby Berkeley

Girl Crazy

99' - 1943 - Comedy, Music/Musical - Dialogue: English
Director: Norman Taurog, Busby Berkeley With: Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Gil Stratton
Still young, though not babes in arms, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland are at the centre of this charming musical full of great standards by lra and George Gershwin - 'Bidin' my Time', 'Fascinating Rhythm', 'Embraceable You', plus a beautiful rendering by Garland of 'But Not lor Me'. In its outdoor shooting, it also hints at the greater camera treedom to come in Freed's work and ends up with one of Busby Berkeley's most trenetic creations built round a rodeo theme, 'I Got Rhythm', full of flaying whips and brassy orchestrations from Tommy Dorsey's band.
