26 year old André Fragman, nicknamed Fairbanks by his father, a projectionist in an old cinema, returns home from military service. He is an engineer but has trouble to find employment. His friend Jean-Pierre, a stage director, presents him to Marie, a talented actress, and they fall in love. But their ways separate and André breaks down. The fairy world of Fred Astaire and Douglas Fairbanks, in which his father has brought him up, comes to his aid. Like Douglas Fairbanks, he flies off with Marie on a magic carpet...
