Fons Rademakers

Dorp aan de rivier

92' - 1958 - Drama - Dialogue: Dutch
Director: Fons Rademakers Composer: Jurriaan Andriessen With: Max Croiset, Mary Dresselhuys, Bernard Droog
This film shows us a series of peculiar stories and scenes which are witnessed by the viewer as nearly improbable, fantastic, no longer realistic and as legendary fiction. Thus, we witness a woman, Madame Van Erpe, giving birth to a child, the suicide of the miller's servant, the nearly macabre ritual around his corpse and the sinister oath by Pale Pie, who will pay for this outrage by being murdered. The film, Fons Rademakers' debut, was nominated for Best Foreign Picture by the Academy in 1959.
