Peter, a 14-year-old boy, is going through a difficult period in his life. He lives alone with his beautiful young mother Sarah, who is too preoccupied by her own problems to be there for her son. In school Peter attempts to gain social recognition by joining a gang headed by Axel. After a rough initiation, Peter is allowed to become a member, hut his acceptance by Axel is grudging at the start and as Peter rises in the gang' s hierarchy, it soon develops into outright hostility. At home, meanwhile, Sarah has begun an affair with Gerd. At first Peter welcomes Gerd, hut as it becomes clear that Sarah and Gerd are interested only in themselves, Peter’s hopes for a renewed family are soon dashed.
