Carnival in Munich. The revelries get out of hand. Green Henry, a young Swiss painter, has a falling out with Lys, his best friend. Lys has shamelessly betrayed his love for his fiancée. Green Henry cannot bear to witness it. He challenges Lys to a duel. The night before the fight. Green Henry remembers his childhood in Zürich. It was a time of growing love for his cousin Anna - and sexual awakening in the arms of Judith, a beautiful actress. Green Henry remembers how he left Zürich as an adolescent to join Anna and her family in the countryside. Their love was pure and untainted - had it not been for Judith, whom he met again by chance.
