Alexander Kluge

Der Angriff der Gegenwart auf die Übrige Zeit (The Blind Director)

Edition 1986
113' - 1985 - Drama, Comedy - Dialogue: German
Director: Alexander Kluge With: Jutta Hoffmann, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Hans-Michael Rehberg
The core of Kluge's thesis in The Blind Director had to do with our perception of art in the revolutionary 20th Century. He opens with a passage from a production of Verdi's Tosca, thus defining how moral and aesthetic issues were viewed by leading artistic figures yesterday. Kluge then seeks to re-define these same issues through the lens of a movie camera, citing the seventh art as today's dominating moral and aesthetic voice.
