On the occasion of his 50th screen anniversary this feature documentary by Ariane Riecker and Henning Lohner evocatively celebrates the art and life of the maverick actor/director Dennis Hopper. Including clips from an idiosyncratic directorial career that encompasses such provocative and groundbreaking titles as "Easy Rider", "The Last Movie" and "Colors", Dennis Hopper: Create (or Die) also examines Hopper's mesmeric on-screen presence and his uncompromising performances in "Apocalypse Now" and "Blue Velvet". Also looking at Hopper's frequent forays into the art world, culminating in a recent major retrospective of photography, painting and sculpture, the film features intimate and revealing reminiscences from David Lynch, Sean Penn, and Wim Wenders.
