85' - 2004 - Drama - Format: 35mm - Dialogue: English
17-year-old Wes lives with his divorced dad in a low-income apartment complex, has few friends and little connection with his father, and spends a lot of time monitoring a police scanner that can pick up cordless phone conversations. Life for the lonely teen becomes more interesting when he discovers that one of his neighbours, the much older Dusty, is an ex-porn filmmaker, who now writes for 'Dear Pillow', a glossy magazine with made-up fantasies for women. After overhearing a woman randomly call men just to have phone sex, Wes learns that the woman is Lorna, the sexy manager of the apartment complex with whom he is already infatuated. With his unique access to a real woman's fantasies, Wes decides that he is going to write for 'Dear Pillow'. When Dusty learns of Wes' objective, he is skeptical until he discovers the identity of the woman. Dusty then initiates a plan of his own - one that draws Wes into a scenario more adult and more intense than he's prepared for … A sensitive, non-exploitative treatment of adolescent sexuality and a sympathetic portrayal of lonely, obsessed people.
