The American philosopher-essayist Joseph Campbell, in his 'The Power of Myth', charged story-tellers to tel1 the
"only myth worth thinking", the story of Earth and human interaction with it. And he insisted that it be told with "the eye of reason" - beyond nationality, religion and linguistic separation. The makers of Baraka (from a Sufi word meaning blessing or breath) gathered 70mm film in six continents and 24 countries and, with music but without dialogue, tels an epic story of Earth's evolution, man's diversity and interdependence and his impact on the world he inhabits.
