Ana goes back to Parana after living in Buenos Aires and meets again, not only with her old friends, but also with a half-forgotten order: the rules of courtship among the members of the provincial middle-class. In the form of sentimental search, this film manages to contrast a social system based on restrictions and false securities with the freedom inherent to bodies and things. The tool for getting at this little miracle is a conception of cinema whereby the aspiration of happiness is to be found in the mise-en-scene, not in psychology. Ana's meetings with old friends, the feeling of uneasiness in the new/old neighborhood and her unanswered longing for her former boyfriend, get finally relativised by the sincerity and innocence of a little kid. Warmhearted and with natural freshness reveals the filmmaker Ana's the inner-conflict without falling in the trap of the pompous.
