Teresa Villaverde's debut feature takes the Portuguese colonial wars with Angola, Mozambique and Guinea between 1962 and 1973 as the background to a poignant drama about the loss of innocence. Alex's peaceful life in the Portuguese countryside comes to an end when his father leaves for actîve duty in Mozambique.
