Theresa Russell
Fri 17.10 - 22:10 - Kinepolis 6
American actress Theresa Russel is not only chairing the International Jury this year but is also the guest of honour of our Classics programme dedicated to British director Nicolas Roeg. Together with Roeg, she made six films, including Bad Timing (1980), in which Russell starred opposite singer Art Garfunkel. Her vulnerable performance in that first collaboration between Roeg and his muse remains one of the most powerful of the 1980s. In subsequent films such as Eureka (1983), Insignificance (1985), and Track 29 (1988), the Roeg-Russell partnership delved into complex explorations of self-destruction, mythmaking, and American childhood. After the screening of Bad Timing, Classics curator Patrick Duynslaegher will sit down with the actress to discuss her career, and in particular her work (and life) with Nicolas Roeg. Russell will then be honoured with a Joseph Plateau Honorary Award.
