Jerry Goldsmith Tribute Concert

Edition 2004
Film & Music WSA

On 14 October 2004, the film music concert pays tribute to Jerry Goldsmith. The composer had been at the top of the Gent Film Festival's wish list. It remains a tribute concert since Goldsmith passed away in July 2004 at the age of 75.

Goldsmith did not shy away from any genre but still excelled in science fiction and adventure films. Among his most famous scores are Lilies of the Fields, Patton, Chinatown, The Omen, Gremlins and Basic Instinct. He also wrote music for TV series like The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and was a visiting professor at UCLA in California. He was awarded 17 Oscar nominations and one Oscar. His music has been released on more than 250 records. Conducted by Dirk Brossé, the National Orchestra of Belgium performs an overview of his most important compositions at the Vlaamse Opera in Ghent.
