Film & Music
How do I write a film score? To answer that question, the festival organises an annual film music seminar where composers, directors and musicians are taught the tricks of the trade by experienced professionals.
Anyone with a keen interest in film music is welcome to attend the seminar. The seminar will be led by none other than composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Devil's Advocate). Warbeck is one of the most prominent British film music composers today and won the Oscar for Best Original Music for Shakespeare in Love five years ago. He will be joined by Finnish composer Tuomas Kantelinen, who wrote the music for Mindhunters, among others. Belgian composer Daan Stuyven will also be present. Stuyven wrote the music for the films Meisje and Verboden te zuchten. Together, they will explore how each film receives a different musical approach. The seminar will be in English, with a translator provided for the Q&A session.
