The film tells the story of the events that preceded the air crash on August 31, 1998, of a LAPA Boeing 737 which went on flames after crashing in midtown Buenos Aires, causing the death of 67 people. Directed and acted by a former LAPA captain, the film reveals a complex network of connivance between the Air Force and the airline company in order to evade air safety controls and maximize operating profits. The leading character’s childhood dreams of becoming a pilot in Argentina are shattered by a reality completely different from what he had expected. He is constantly torn apart by conflicting needs to observe safety regulations and keep his job, endangered by increasing pressures from higher ranking officials in the company. Regardless of constant threats and attacks, a federal prosecutor investigates the case which, he is sure, cannot be explained away by a mere pilot error. He finally manages to bring the company’s chief executives and the Air Force authorities before a criminal court, establishing a unique precedent in the history of commercial aviation.
