A rockstar withdraws to his massive run-down mansion on the coast. Alone with his dreams and thoughts, cut off from the world and running away from a failed marriage, he is in the process of recording a series of eerie but beautiful songs: a symphony for whales. For years he has been living on a diet of stale doughnuts whilst staving off the ghosts of bis past - a wife who keeps reappearing, a manager who wants to make money off a new record, and a dead brother whose memory haunts him. Eccentric and magnificently alone he has apparently found peace. However, into his self-imposed exile appears a young runaway, the willowy and brazen Claire ...
