A high school teacher, Marek Ziamo, is sent abroad by the 'Solidarity' authorities; his mission is to carry addresses of underground printing offices, contact points and a list of the Region's back-up workers who will carry on its activity in case the Union is delegalized. On the 13th December Martial Law is proclaimed. Security agents go after but fall to arrest Marek, who gets on the ferry leaving on the Baltic Sea, the only way to cross the border for the desperate Poles aboard, who plan to start a new life in the West.
