Miles Massey, a successful lawyer from Los Angeles, specializes in divorces. But despite his impressive client base, his large number of won cases, the respect of his colleagues and a watertight contract of his own, he now finds himself at a turning point in his life. Success can no longer captivate him and boredom sets in. He is in urgent need of a new challenge. And he gets one in the shape of Marylin Rexroth, the soon-to-be ex-wife of his wealthy client Rex Rexroth, a well-heeled property developer. With the help of the driven private detective Gus Petch, Marylin has managed to catch Rex in the act. She is already eagerly looking forward to her financial independence. But Miles seems set to put a stop to that.
