The story of an unusual and passionate marriage between Nobel Prize winning Norwegian writer and poet, Knut Hamsun, and his wife Marie, who sacrified everything to be at his side.
The film opens in 1935, when the aging writer's fascination with Hitler becomes more and
more obvious to everyone. As a prominent and internationally known personality with
influential contacts all over the world, and a firm believer in fighting against British
imperialism, Hamsun starts to believe it is his destiny to rescue his country. During World War
II, he openly sides with te Nazis. Once regarded national heroes, Hamsun and his wife are soon
looked upon as traitors by their fellow Norwegians.
