The stork pays a visit to the circus, blessing most of the animals with new arrivals, including Mrs. Jumbo, the elephant. The other elephants come to admire the youngster, who suddenly sneezes, and as he does, his ears enlarge to huge proportions. The other female elephants express horror, sarcasm and disdain, saying he ought to be called Dumbo. One day, Mrs. Jumbo becomes frantic when the circus people take Dumbo away and she is locked up. Dumbo is left alone, brokenhearted, but he meets a saucy little mouse named Timothy. They become inseparable friends. Dumbo is made part of the clown act, but one day, after drinking too much champagne, he discovers that he can fly. During the clown act, he surprises everyone by exhibiting his newfound talent … (Leonard Maltin, The Disney Films)
