Closet Land is a taut, unrelenting story of a woman subjected to physical and psychologlcal torture for crimes that remain mysterious. The truth is that she is paying the price for her individuality. The state is interested only in conformity and will go to any length to ensure that she stays in line. The two-character, one-set production provides an intimacy and intensity aptly suited to the subject matter. Anchored by exceptional performances by Rickman and Stowe, the film is both entertaining and challenging. The creativity in current and style is something that should be applauded.
