The film story of the bloodiest of all bandits, who pillaged and looted through Yugoslavia at the beginning of this century, starts in the dramatic times of decay of the Austro-Hungarian empire. ideas of Lenin's October are spreading through Europe like lightning. Crowds of people are returning from the war, impressed by the on-coming new era. Among them is the hero of the film. Jovo Stanisavljevic Charuga, a returnee from the Russian front, dreams of moving the flames of revolution from Russia to Yugoslavia. He fled into the woods with a group of like-minded people, to head an outlaw band which brutally killed 28 people within 4 years.
