In 1958, two years later than even in the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia at last started revising the most blatant cases of abused laws. Brought to court were particularly those people from the ministry of the interior and the lawcourts who were renowned for their genocidal and sadistic attitudes in the handling of political prisoners. A few months later they became prisoners themselves and found themselves among the very men whose lives they had ruled with unlimited power. Thus they became men singled out for extermination in the uranium mines. The authentic situation which changed the <<judges>> into prisoners is strong testimony to the times - but also leaves room for thought on generally valid questions of guilt and retaliation.
