"Blinded" tells a story of obsession and murder, loosely based on Emile Zola's "Thérèse Raquin" and retold in a modern day setting.
Handsome Danish backpacker, Mike Hammershoi, arrives one night at Black's farm looking for work. Francis, the blind owner, lives with his elderly mother Bella, and young wife Rachel in isolation. Francis offers Mike a low-paid labouring job in the run down yard. Noting the strange set up, Mike initially declines the job, but changes his mind after meeting the magnetically attractive Rachel. Sensing his wife's attraction to Mike, Francis finds an excuse to sack him. Mike's imminent departure propels Rachel and Mike together. Francis mysteriously vanishes…
"Blinded" is a dark psychological thriller, which like "The postman always rings twice" explores the darker side of sexual desire, showing how hard it is to see the truth, even when the facts are right in front of your eyes.
"I wanted to explore how the darkest moments in our lives can sometimes turn out to be the brightest…" (Eleonor Yule).
