Anime Fiammegianti (Love Burns)

Contemporary Rome. Rosario, a high-school teacher, is very depressed. His leftist ideals are down the drain, the world seems to plot against him. His wife Elena left him. And the Virgin Mary keeps appearing to him, trying to “save” him. He could not care less. The only thing he wants is Elena back. But things are made worse by Amelia, a colleague who courts him and by Salvatore, his neighbour and old time friend: a gangster under house arrest who admits falling in love with him. It's too much for Rosario who tries to commit suïcide in a grotesque way. But it does not work...
