Belgian director Nabil Ben Yadir (Les barons) talks about his intense new film Animals, his choice to depict explicit violence on screen and the relationship between fact and fiction.

Jacqueline Lentzou

Jacqueline Lentzou is one of the most exciting new voices in Greek cinema today. She has received international acclaim for her shorts, and for her feature debut Moon, 66 Questions.

Avi Mograbi
Fr 15.10 - 19:30 - Sphinx 3 - after the screening of The First 54 Years: An Abbreviated Manual for Military Occupation.
Avi Mograbi is considered Israel's most important documentarist and a committed eyewitness of the Middle East conflict, who asks critical questions in his work. His latest feature offers a fictional manual for military occupation.
Moderated by filmmaker Christina Stuhlberger.

Miguel Gomes
Tue 19.10 - 20:15 - Sphinx 3 - after the screening of The Tsugua Diaries.
Portuguese director Miguel Gomes won the Grand Prix at FFG2012 with Tabu and received international acclaim for his trilogy Arabian Nights. Together with co-director and partner Maureen Fazendeiro, he shot The Tsugua Diaries during the pandemic.

Radu Jude

Romanian film auteur Radu Jude was a member of our international jury in 2019. The director is known for turning his eye toward the darker side of his country's past. With his new film, however, he looks at the present and the influence of social media.
Moderated by film critic Nick Pinkerton, in co-operation with film magazine Fantômas.

Fabrice du Welz

His unique approach to genre filmmaking has made Belgian director Fabrice du Welz one of the most interesting out there. His latest feature, Inexorable, is a domestic thriller which - yet again - brings out the best in du Welz.

Andrea Arnold

Andrea Arnold is one of Britain’s most influential directors. Her films often focus on vulnerable people on the margins of a capitalist society. She has won the Prix du Jury in Cannes three times, with Red Road (2006), Fish Tank (2009) and American Honey (2016).
